FREE NotEvenOnce CEO Schools Vaping Info and Q&A
August 31st, Wednesday - 2 Sessions to choose from
It’s a very challenging world for our young people and for schools there is already so much pressure on many areas to stay abreast of the latest issues and trends. Nothing is more true than in the Alcohol & other Drug (AOD) space. It changes constantly and the latest Vaping wave amongst our young people is a perfect example of confusing misinformation or in fact limited information.
Last year we commenced running our information sessions aimed to help inform School staff about Vaping legalities, devices, contents, health impacts and myths. In our first offering we held a morning and afternoon session. 58 school staff registered for the morning session and the afternoon session had 25 registered. 48 people joined the first morning session and our inbox exploded post session with afternoon registrations jumping to 98. Here's a few comments from participants:
"Enjoyed the delivery and content - presenter obviously has a wealth of knowledge. Concise, informative and interesting" Teacher
"Thoroughly enjoyed the presentation & way you presented it. It was one of those presentations that I could have listened to for much longer than the hour." School Psychologist
"Very well presented and informative. I would recommend this webinar to everyone!" Administration Leader
"Tanya spoke really well, with a good mixture of facts and statistics, as well as visuals." Lead Teacher
We are continuing in the balance of 2022 with more information seminars for School staff on this topic as we have for the first half of the year. Our Webinar will be updated with the latest data & statisicts.
NotEvenOnce Projects have been supporting Australian Schools since 2015 and to date have delivered to 84212 students. Our program outcomes have been evaluated by Western Sydney University and shown to positvely impact the Cognitive and Affective Domains of young peoples decisions in this space.
Our incursions are available in-person and virtually and are designed to be interactive with students.
However we understand its difficult to know what is included, presentations, topics, age groups and more so we felt it would be a great time, to provide an information and Q&A session with our CEO, Tanya Cavanagh. In addition to NotEvenOnce Projects, Tanya heads up Teen Challenge Tasmania and works in helping people in substance addiction to exit that lifestyle. She works coal face with young people everyday in this area and is very passionate about prevention.
During this session Tanya will address some of the Vaping myths and deceptive nature of the Vaping industry. Even if you and your team decide not to have NotEvenOnce Projects within your school, we hope this session will give you some insight into this area that we have only just glimpsed the tip of the iceberg in relation to vaping and our young people.

About the Presenter
Tanya Cavanagh, is married with 1 fur baby, she lives in one of the most beautiful parts of Australia albeit sometimes very chilly, Tasmania. She is the CEO of Teen Challenge Tasmania. Teen Challenge is an international organisation that commenced in 1958 in NY by Rev David Wilkerson, in response to his exposure to the significant drug addiction to Heroine at the time of the city's teenage gangs. Today it has over 1400 residential rehab centres around the world for people from teens to adults with life controlling addictions. Teen Challenge was established in Aust in QLD in 1981 and has residential programs in each state excluding NT, ACT & TAS.
Tanya has worked a large portion of her life in the Automotive Industry from working on cars to sales to the corporate world of running Dealerships. Her eyes were opened to the plight of many young people in her community when she helped a school conduct mock interviews. The stories the young people shared to her interview question "What is something you have achieved you never thought you could achieve?" took her by surprise as they shared mental health, sexual/physical abuse, generational drug abuse and poverty within their own lives. Their stories ignited in her a passion to do something to help today's youth and she now says "I have finally found what I want to do with my life and now love waking up and going to work every day" She founded Teen Challenge Tasmania in 2014 and works solidly in the prevention space, to turn young people away from the pathways that can lead to a life destroying pathway of drug use to mask or deal with life's challenges and build resilience to gain the future that was intended for them and not the pathway Drug Dealers will take them.
She is highly driven and motivated in this space and together with her team work with at-risk youth in Mentoring, Art Therapy, Workplace Mentoring/Training, Arrowsmith program overcoming learning difficulties through the science of neuroplasticity of the brain. The NotEvenOnce Education and Resilience building Projects are delivered around Australia and have now spoken to over 80,000 young people. She also works regularly with people within addiction and helps facilitate their entry into rehabilitation and operates small support groups for loved ones of someone in addiction through the Solutions Program.
